Normally we are a little cautious about reporting on the faults of individual vehicles; After all, we cannot examine the errors ourselves. But colleague Jason Fenske from Engineering Explained has documented the numerous bugs in his privately purchased Lucid Air so well that we believe a report is warranted.

Jason bought a new one in June 2025 Lucid Air Touringwhich starts at $79,900 in the US. Like many electric car enthusiasts, Jason was excited about the car from the start and had high expectations. However, disillusionment soon set in because of a whole host of annoying detail problems that he shows in the video. They range from speakers that don’t play music to annoying locking problems to non-functioning engine coolant pumps.

Some problems have now been solved by service. The defective pumps were replaced, as were the toggle switches for operating the fan. The workshop was able to fix this with a different setting.

The car also has facial recognition, but Jason’s high steering wheel position obscures the camera. With the new Gravity, the camera is mounted on the steering column so that it moves when you adjust the steering column, Lucid promises. Also that the Doors apparently lock automatically after you open a rear door and closes so that you can’t get in at the front, this should be fixed in an update. Jason also took Lucid’s reaction into account and made a separate video about it: The US manufacturer wrote to him saying they were not happy with the situation and would work hard to improve it.

At the end, Jason answers the question of whether he regrets buying the Lucid Air. He says no. Many of his detailed problems have now been resolved. In addition, the sedan is still an excellent long-distance car with a lot of range, low consumption and excellent noise levels.
