The Tübingen district office warns against consuming honey paste sold on Amazon – because it contains a hidden sexual enhancer.
The dietary supplement “Lotus Mixed Herbal Paste with Honey” contains the undeclared drug sildenafil, as the authority announced on the internet portal “lebensmittelanwalten.de”.
There is a risk of side effects
Sildenafil requires a prescription and helps against erectile dysfunction. The active ingredient is, among other things, a component of the sexual enhancer Viagra. The substance is therefore not identified on the label. Consumers therefore assumed that they were consuming a food product – and not a medicine containing active ingredients, it was said.
According to the office, this results in an incalculable health risk. Possible side effects include a drop in blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, vision problems, and headaches and stomach pains. A painful permanent erection can also occur.
Office orders halt to sales at Amazon
This affects goods with a best-before date of July 2030. People who have purchased the product should not take it. If you have any health problems, you are advised to seek medical advice.
The product was therefore produced in Turkey and sold by a dealer from Tübingen. “The distributor was asked to recall goods from consumers and a stop to sales via Amazon was initiated,” the district office said.
