A power outage in Aachen is currently paralyzing several local administrations in North Rhine-Westphalia – many citizens’ appointments with authorities have to be canceled today, as several cities and districts in North Rhine-Westphalia have announced.
The reason is a disruption caused by the power outage at the IT service provider “regio IT”, which claims to be the largest municipal IT service provider in North Rhine-Westphalia for public clients. In addition to the city of Aachen, Bielefeld, Düren, Erkelenz, Würselen, the Rhein-Erft district, the Soest district, the Ennepe-Ruhr district, the Heinsberg district and the Euskirchen district are also affected.
Citizens’ offices and vehicle registration offices affected
This is often communicated on the website of the respective administration – if it is still accessible. Affected places include citizens’ offices, vehicle registration offices, lost property offices and service portals.
The disruption occurred on Monday evening; according to “regio IT”, it is currently assumed that productive operation will no longer be possible today. We are working hard to resolve the problem.
