A school in eastern Thuringia published a press release with a manipulated photo. This incorrectly shows anti-AfD writing on a school blackboard.
The picture was at an appointment High school created in Saalfeld. According to the school, a teacher edited the photo. The State Education Authority of South Thuringia, as the school and service supervisory authority, is assessing the case, the Ministry of Education said upon request.
Party political positions are prohibited in schools
The party-political neutrality requirement in schools applies without distinction to all political directions. The statement went on to say that party political positions – regardless of their nature – have no place in school communication. Various disciplinary measures are conceivable.
The appointment at the school was about funding for the restoration of a historical instrument. “When compiling the press release, the school management was inadvertently given an image file edited by a teacher instead of the original,” the Ministry of Education explained.
