Norwegian test shows possible remote access

According to media reports, the manufacturer can access extensive vehicle diagnostic data and, for example, remotely control functions such as doors or system settings. The Norwegian Ministry of Transport has been informed of the results.

The manufacturer explained to the media that the remote access was only for maintenance and service purposes. Brakes or driving controls could not be influenced.

USA plans restrictions on vehicle technology from China

Concern about possible security risks from connected vehicles is also growing in the USA. The government in Washington therefore wants certain technologies from China restrict. This includes a ban on software and hardware from China used in connected cars that could provide access to driver or infrastructure data.

US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo warned as early as 2024 that vehicles could pose “a serious threat to national security and privacy” through cameras, microphones and GPS data.

Restrictions in sensitive areas
