In Renquishausen, the SPD only got 0.6 and 0.8 percent

SPD candidate surprised by the result

When asked by FOCUS online about the bankruptcy in the town, Treublut said: “I suspected that I would receive few votes in Renquishausen. I just found out from you that there are four.”

Treublut reports on a very difficult election campaign: election posters were lost or damaged. Her party friends were also insulted while putting up posters. “It is difficult for social democrats to talk to people.”

She still had “many interesting conversations at the markets”. And she relies on the principle of hope: “Let’s put it this way: All channels of conversation are open. As soon as there are a few active comrades on site again, things can only get better.”

The SPD is even subject to the Animal Protection Party

Even the Animal Protection Party was able to get two more votes than the Social Democrats, as “Spiegel” reports. Despite a high voter turnout of around 83 percent in Renquishausen, the SPD had no chance and ended up far behind the Left (0.8 percent), the FDP (8 percent), the Greens (12 percent), the AfD (28.9 percent) and the CDU (43.7 percent).

The SPD candidate Christine Treublut was born in Meppen in Lower Saxony, but lives in Tuttlingen and works as a vocational school teacher. In 2026, the 59-year-old ran for the state parliament for the second time. In February she told the “Schwäbische”: “Well, my level of popularity is below average, my place on the list is unattractive.” Nevertheless, she emphasized that she was “very motivated” to “achieve a good result for the SPD.”

During the election campaign, Treublut focused on five priorities: work, education, health and care, housing and climate protection. She called for jobs to be secured as part of the change towards a more sustainable and socially just economic structure. She also advocated for a strengthened education system with more teachers and the abolition of kindergarten fees.

The community of Renquishausen, with 826 inhabitants, is located in the Tuttlingen district, about an hour’s drive from Lake Constance. The place has been known as a bioenergy village since 2008: a biogas plant supplies companies, public buildings and households with energy, saving over 700 tons of CO2 annually. The local infrastructure includes two parishes, a kindergarten, a community center, a community center, a library, a bakery and a fire department.
