A burning sweet potato cart caused a stir in southern Japan. The scene was captured on several videos.
The vehicle drove through the streets of Kumamoto City on Thursday evening – including blazing flames, loud disco music and flashing lights. The incident was filmed by numerous passers-by.
Fortunately, the 70-year-old driver was uninjured. He drove the burning car straight to the nearest fire station, where the fire department was able to put out the fire.

The incident caused heated discussions on social media. One user commented: “Japanese society is so civilized that the fires themselves to the fire station drive.” Others criticized the driver’s risky behavior.
The car burned out completely, leaving only a charred skeleton. In Japan Hot potato vending carts are widespread, but such an occurrence is likely to be rare.
