The FC St Pauli is looking for revenge against basement competitor Borussia Mönchengladbach in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga. Coach Alexander Blessin calls the desolate 4-0 defeat in the first half of the season one of “our worst games” since he began his career at St. Pauli in the summer of 2024. “Everything that could go wrong went wrong,” he said before the away game on Friday evening (8.30 p.m./Sky).
The Hamburg team is currently stable in the tight relegation race, has not lost in three games and has picked up seven points. The Kiez club is in the relegation zone, four points behind pursuer Wolfsburg in 17th place. Gladbach is twelfth and only one point away from FC St. Pauli.
Borussia from Mönchengladbach is also still in the middle of a relegation battle; in 14th place, the team from Lower Rhine is one point ahead of the Kiezkicker in the relegation zone.
