Elton celebrated with “Who knows something like that?” a surprising comeback for an episode. This caused heated discussions on social media.
The return to the ARD studio took place on the occasion of Bernhard Hoëcker’s 56th birthday on March 20th. Elton, who was on the show until 2025stopped by the studio unexpectedly. Previously, ARD kept a low profile. The public broadcaster only officially announced one celebrity guest.
Elton’s comeback in the rating show caused widespread enthusiasm. But there were also negative comments. “Elton could have been spared. He wanted to go high,” wrote one viewer. “Please not Elton. It’s so good that he’s finally gone,” says another comment.
In addition, some fans were bothered by the fact that the episode was recorded days before Bernhard Hoëcker’s birthday: “What a comedy. The recording was a long time ago and the birthday is probably today. What are we always being told?”

After fan criticism: ARD intervenes
Both Elton and Bernhard Hoëcker were criticized in the comments section. When a body-shaming comment in the direction of Michael Schanze (79) followed, the station found it too much and reprimanded the viewers.
“Especially today, things can often get a little too heated here. We would like to ask you to treat each other objectively and, above all, respectfully in all discussions. Insults have no place here,” the broadcaster tells its community. The broadcaster also threatens consequences: “In the event of repeated violations, we reserve the right to block users.”
