Carstenträger dies after collapsing while skiing in Tyrol: The news from Saturday night caused deep consternation across party lines in Fürth and the region.

Carstenträger has represented the Fürth constituency in the German Bundestag since 2013. He leaves behind his wife Claudia and two daughters.

Mourning for the deceased SPD politician from Fürth

Fürth Mayor Thomas Jung reacted to the death report on Sunday morning. He shared a picture of snowdrops on Instagram and wrote: “I wish you a wonderful start to spring and I am personally very sad because my long-time companion and State Secretary Carstenträger died yesterday at the age of 52.” There are already a few condolences under the post.

Most recently, the sponsor was Parliamentary State Secretary to the Environment Minister, also chairman of the SPD in Middle Franconia and co-chairman of the Bavarian state group of the SPD parliamentary group.

Carrier comes from a political family and has been active in politics since 2002. He took his first steps as a volunteer city councilor and deputy parliamentary group leader in Fürth (2002 to 2013). Carrier has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013.

As the “Fürther Nachrichten” and “Fürth aktuell” report from party circles, among others, Carrier collapsed while skiing on Saturday and then died in the hospital. Carstenträger was 52 years old.
