Fake doctor robs pensioner from Bavaria of 500,000 euros

A Bavarian pensioner in Dingolshausen (Schweinfurt district) was defrauded of around 500,000 euros by telephone fraudsters.

A man pretended to be a professor at a hospital on the phone and informed the woman about her son’s alleged colon cancer treatment, the police said.

The fraudsters demanded cash or gold for treatment and to receive vital medication. The woman then handed it over. The criminal police are now investigating and are looking for witnesses, among other things, who saw the handover.
