Luxury hotel “Bristol” in Paris burns: 400 people evacuated


Around 400 people have been temporarily brought to safety due to a fire in a Paris luxury hotel near the Elysée Palace.

The fire department said on Wednesday that two people were slightly injured. The fire broke out at around 11:20 a.m. in the first basement of the Bristol Hotel for initially unknown reasons. It was brought “completely under control” in the afternoon.

Hotel near Macron residence burns

Around a hundred firefighters and 50 vehicles were deployed. The police cordoned off a large area of ​​the area. According to the hotel, the fire broke out in the kitchen of the Michelin-starred restaurant 114 Faubourg. The guests and employees of the hotel were able to return to the hotel in the afternoon. Initially there was talk of three injuries, later only two.

The “Bristol” is located near the Elysée Palace, the residence of President Emmanuel Macron. High-ranking state and government guests, including from Germany, often stayed in the hotel, which belongs to the Oetker Group. It celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.
