The AfD wins. The SPD loses. Nobody has to like that, but these are the facts of the past few weeks, from Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate. At “Maischberger” there is a discussion.
Ralf Stegner appears in the ARD talk, he is the SPD man with the deep corners of his mouth, even in better times for his party. And he meets Bernd Baumann, the parliamentary director of the AfD.
Who will be the winner? Who loser? And: Is the decision this Wednesday night as clear as it was on election Sunday?
“You are our best campaign helper!”
The ARD talk quickly becomes very, very toxic. “Mr Stegner, I am grateful to you, you are our best campaign helper!” jokes Bernd Baumann.
A little later, Stegner replied: “He talks about a lot of things, but doesn’t understand anything.” And the SPD man adds: “You talk like a parrot.”
“It’s not just a problem with people”
Maischberger had previously opened her program with the words “More and more workers are voting for the AfD.” And tried to find the answers straight away.
It is the day when SPD leader Klingbeil named his self-rescue reforms: Spousal splitting gone; Free health insurance for spouses gone. This is the courage of his desperation. Ralf Stegner’s defense of his party leader is remarkably weak. “We have a problem,” says the SPD man, “and not just with the people.”
SPD man sinks deeper and deeper
Sandra Maischberger addresses the real problem: “Who makes better policies for workers?”
The body language of the two discussants matches the election results. Bernd Baumann spreads himself out remarkably in his talk chair. Ralf Stegner sinks deeper and deeper. The topics are getting bigger and bigger.
“Roll back left-green madness!”
It’s about the question of a VAT increase of two percent. “I think the discussion is a catastrophe,” AfD Baumann clearly rejects: “We just have to scale back the left-green madness.”
And the SPD? “You have to tax people based on their ability to work,” says Stegner.
Reduce gasoline prices – “as soon as possible”
High fuel prices? Ralf Stegner is clear: “The state must intervene!” Bernd Baumann reminds us of the high taxation on gasoline: “Over half is tax! That’s education money, that’s religious,” the AfD man continues, “I would abolish that as soon as possible.”
If you want to dream of driving cheaply, you shouldn’t ignore the suggestion: as soon as possible.
