After hearing the head of the AfD youth organization Generation Germany, Jean-Pascal Hohm, the AfD federal executive board decided to withdraw the exclusion proceedings against Dorow if he resigned from his party positions in return, the German Press Agency learned from party circles. Instead, only a two-year ban from holding office is planned.

Hohm confirmed this when asked and said that Dorow was complying with the demands. He is giving up his seat on the party’s state executive board in Schleswig-Holstein and on the federal executive board of Generation Germany.

GD boss: AfD and youth organization are approaching each other

Hohm said he would have liked a complete withdrawal of the party’s regulatory measure, which he still considers to be objectively excessive. “However, the compromise that has now been found shows that the AfD and Generation Germany are ready to approach each other and find viable solutions together. That is a very good sign.”

Dorov said he welcomed the party leadership’s decision. “What is important to me is that the political work in the state and federal government can be continued. It is now important to further strengthen Generation Germany in its development phase and to lay the substantive and organizational foundations for the coming state elections in Schleswig-Holstein.”

AfD leaders had already agreed to exclude the party

At a meeting of the Federal Executive Board in February, party expulsion proceedings against Dorow were initially agreed. There was then criticism from those around the party and also within the party. Federal board member Kay Gottschalk wrote to X: “I agreed – and I’m sorry.” He also announced that he would bring the topic up for discussion again at the next board meeting.

Dorow’s speech brought the public prosecutor’s office into action

Dorow was elected to the board of the newly founded AfD youth party in November. His speech at the founding event in Gießen brought the public prosecutor’s office to the attention of the public prosecutor, who initiated the investigation into possible criminal liability in accordance with Section 86a of the Criminal Code. The paragraph is about “using the symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations”.

In the speech, Dorow referred to the Thuringian AfD state leader Höcke and said: “As Björn Höcke recited a few months ago, youth must be led by youth, and this principle must be our guiding star,” he said. The new youth organization will be “the spearhead of the young right in Germany,” Dorow added. “Youth is led by youth” was the principle of the so-called Bündische Jugend in the Weimar period and later also of the Hitler Youth.

Dorow later said that the saying “Youth must be led by youth” came from the Wandervogel movement, i.e. from a time before National Socialism and therefore long before the Hitler Youth even existed. He sees no reason to distance himself from this statement, which is in no way reprehensible.
