A 49-year-old man is said to have fatally injured a 38-year-old woman in Barsinghausen near Hanover and critically injured their 13-year-old daughter.
As a police spokesman said, the family’s 15-year-old son alerted the police at around 2:10 a.m. and stated that the father had attacked the mother.
The emergency services found the woman with life-threatening injuries, but she succumbed to her injuries in the house. The 13-year-old daughter was taken to a hospital. Early in the morning, the police were still checking how the injuries were inflicted, as well as the marital status of the 38-year-old.
There were also two small children in the house
The police arrested the father in front of the house. The man allowed himself to be arrested without resistance and did not try to escape, said the police spokesman. He was medically examined in the morning. Forensic investigations at the single-family home were also ongoing.
According to initial findings, the 15-year-old son who called the emergency number was not injured. According to police, there were also at least two small children in the house. According to the spokesman, they were physically unharmed. The youth welfare office was called in and initially took all three children into care.
The police have not yet been able to provide any information about possible motives for the crime.
