Boris Palmer explains his success: “I’m a strange guy”

The presumably new Prime Minister Cem Özdemir is the star in the country. His friend Boris Palmer also sees himself in a future role. And he has a strange moment in the ARD talk when it comes to Green Party leader Banaszak.

Boris Palmer is a guest on “Maischberger” on Tuesday evening. He is considered Cem Özdemir’s election assistant. According to Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt, presenter and TV producer, he “completely ignored his own party in the election campaign.” He even sees the Green Party as “the Barack Obama of Urach.” What does this mean for his friend Palmer?

Of course that’s not in the cards for this TV evening. Will he get a ministerial office? He doesn’t go into it. He wants to help. He doesn’t have to do that as a Green. Especially since he is a former Green Party member. There were, he says, some non-conformist Greens in “The Länd”. He emphasizes: “Baden-Württemberg has strange guys like me.” These are “real political Greens”. They’re like Palmer says: “We don’t lecture, we’re not ideological.” That’s why Palmer elected Friedrich Merz as chancellor.

The ex-Green about the Green Party leader: “I don’t know him at all”

This cannot be done together with the left-wing faction of the Greens. Felix Banaszak, for example, is squirming, as he did with “Hart aber fair” on the first on Monday evening. Boris Palmer promptly has his Alice Weidel moment on “Maischberger”, also in the first: “I don’t know him at all.” AfD leader Weidel said something similar about General Secretary Tim Klüssendorf on TV on Sunday evening after the election: “I’ve never seen you before!” Palmer also pulls this nasty card on the first about the leader of his former party: “I only know him from TV.”

Palmer has been mayor of Tübingen for 20 years. He is the son of the “Remstal rebel”. He has very special approaches. He is non-conformist. That’s why he’s no longer with the Greens. They seem to be happy to be rid of the man who is inconvenient for them.

Greens against Greens or Realo against left-wing sectarians

But Palmer, head of the town hall in Tübingen for almost 20 years, presented the matter before the broadcast. He sees a need for action in finance, the economy and education. “Everything that has made this country great and strong is in danger.” This is what he said in an interview with the “Südwest Presse”. And: “If I can make a contribution, I’m happy to do so.” The Green Youth sees it completely differently. One wonders “whether this is ultimately green politics”. Vice versa has Palmer interviewed by FOCUS online warned his former party against “left-wing sectarianism”.

Cem Özdemir: Completely ignores his own party

Palmer has just married his friend Cem Özdemir in his role as mayor of Tübingen. At “Maischberger” he admits about the recent election: “It was close, I didn’t believe I would win at first.” His discussion partner Dietmar Bartsch from the Left sums up that the CDU candidate Manuel Hagel “was not a good candidate” for the Union in Baden-Württemberg. And, also this: “The problems in the country are very, very big.” Boris Palmer agrees remarkably clearly.
