Due to the risk of salmonella, OVO Vertriebs GmbH is recalling onion meat sold at Penny. It is the product “Master Class Ham and Onion Mettwurst 200 grams”, as it says on the website lebensmittelanwalt.de. Packs with a use-by date of March 12, 2026 and batch number L04804 are affected.

Salmonella was detected in a single sample. We therefore strongly advise against consuming Mett. According to the company, the recall is purely precautionary. The affected products have been removed from the shelves. Customers could return goods they have already purchased to a penny store without presenting the receipt and have the purchase price refunded.

After an infection with salmonella, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting and a mild fever may occur. Consumers who have eaten the Mett and experienced severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention, it said.
