A few days after a dead infant was found in a baby hatch in Leipzig, the child’s alleged mother came forward.
An investigation was initiated against the 39-year-old on suspicion of manslaughter, as the public prosecutor announced. However, an arrest warrant has not yet been applied for. The investigation into the cause and circumstances of the infant’s death is ongoing.
According to initial findings, the infant was already dead when he was put down, as a spokesman for the Leipzig public prosecutor’s office said upon request. There were no indications of visible external violence. It was said that further investigations would have to determine whether the boy was born alive.
