“We are currently assuming a dispute between father and daughter,” said Osnabrück public prosecutor’s spokesman Alexander Retemeyer. There are currently no indications that other people could be involved.

Investigators find gun

After a report of screams and possible shots, a large contingent of emergency services was deployed to the Gartenstadt district on Monday. The forces found the man dead in the house and were unable to save the woman. Investigators searched the house and secured evidence. They found a gun.

The man had a gun ownership license and was legally allowed to own several firearms, said public prosecutor Retemeyer the day after the crime. The bodies of the 86-year-old man and the 62-year-old woman are to be autopsied in the forensic medicine department in Oldenburg. Retemeyer emphasized that the investigation into the background and the exact course of the crime is still in its early stages.
