Brandt gives an emotional speech in his underwear – Guirassy films everything

A video from teammate Serhou Guirassy, which briefly circulated on Snapchat, shows the offensive player giving a moving speech to the team after the final whistle.

Noticeable: Brandt only spoke to his teammates in his underwear, functional shirt and flip flops – and became visibly emotional. Looking back on his time in Dortmund, the 29-year-old said:

“I’ve been here for almost seven years. I’ve experienced a lot here. But one thing has stuck through the years. I’ve always had good guys in my team since 2019. I’ve had guys I can rely on.”

Guirassy quickly deletes the Brandt video

The scenes were not actually intended for the public and were deleted after a short time. Nevertheless, they spread quickly. In another sequence, Brandt’s teammates can be seen applauding him – a sign of great appreciation for a player who has been influential for BVB since his move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019.

However, his anniversary had a bit of a sporting aftertaste. Brandt was only substituted on in the sixth minute of injury time and only had a few seconds of playing time. Coach Niko Kovac then explained the background: “I actually planned to bring him on 20 minutes beforehand. Only then it was 1:2 or 2:2 and we had the momentum and I didn’t want to interrupt it.”

300 games for BVB: Strong numbers from Julian Brandt

Nevertheless, Brandt was happy about the victory and the special moment. Numbers underline his importance for the club: in 300 competitive games he collected 56 goals and 69 assists, won the DFB Cup in 2021 and reached the Champions League final in 2024.

However, one thing is also certain: his time at BVB will end in the summer. The expiring contract will not be extendedafter seven years they part ways. What will happen next for the 48-time national player is still unclear – there is said to be interest from abroad, but a return to Leverkusen is considered impossible. Until then, he still has a few games left to say a proper goodbye to the fans and enjoy more minutes in the black and yellow jersey.
