A telephone fraudster defrauded a billionaire from North Rhine-Westphalia of cash and valuables worth 4 million euros. The police have now released the first details about the perpetrator.
Accordingly, it is said to be a man who is around 1.75 meters tall and speaks broken German. When handing over the money and valuables, he is said to have been wearing a hoodie and red-brown corduroy pants. He also has “very fine, almost flawless skin” and looks Eastern European.

“The unknown perpetrators took advantage of one so-called shock call as a scam,” a police spokesman told the German Press Agency (dpa) after the crime became known: “They claimed that their victim’s daughter had caused a fatal traffic accident. A pregnant woman, who is also said to be the daughter of a Serbian diplomat, had an accident.”
Hand over jewelry, watches, money and gold
In order to meet the demands of this alleged diplomat, money or valuables are needed, they say Con artists. “The following two handover situations occurred, for which we cannot provide any background information due to the ongoing investigation,” said the spokesman: “Jewellery, watches, cash and gold were stolen.”
As “Bild” now reports, the equivalent value of the stolen money and valuables is said to be four million euros. The criminal police have also set up an investigative commission because of this large amount, as a spokesman confirmed to the dpa.
“The officers are in regular contact with the victim and his family. There are some investigative approaches, some of which have already been processed and some of which are still being processed,” it says.
