For over six months, the police have been searching without success for the right-wing extremist Marla Svenja Liebich from Saxony-Anhalt, who was previously a man. Now there are new developments surrounding Liebich’s gender entry.
More than six months after she went into hiding, she is missing Right-wing extremist Marla-Svenja Liebich55, from Saxony-Anhalt every trace. At the same time, the processes surrounding the gender entry of the previously male person with the name Sven Liebig take on increasingly grotesque features.
Because according to media reports, Liebich now wants to have the entry changed again – to “diverse”. Liebich has now chosen – of all things – “Anne Frank” as her new name.
Right-wing extremist Liebich wants to be called “Anne Frank” in the future
Anne Frank was a German Jew, who emigrated from Germany to the Netherlands with her parents and sister in 1934 to escape the National Socialists. In 1945, at the age of 15, she was murdered in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Anne Frank is considered a global symbol for the many millions of victims of National Socialism.
The fact that a right-wing extremist person like Liebich, who is being monitored by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, wants to call herself “Anne Frank” in the future is causing outrage among many commentators on the Internet.
Meanwhile, Liebich is still on the run from the police. “It has not yet been possible to arrest Liebich,” said Benedikt Bernzen from the responsible public prosecutor’s office in Halle (Saale) to FOCUS online. “The search is ongoing,” said the public prosecutor. “We are continuing to work diligently to arrest Liebich as soon as possible.”
Public prosecutor’s office in Halle (Saale): The search continues
The right-wing extremist Marla-Svenja Liebich was actually supposed to begin her imprisonment in the women’s prison in Chemnitz, Saxony, on August 29, 2025, but did not show up and has been wanted ever since. In July 2023 – then still as Sven Liebich – she was sentenced to one year and six months in prison by the Halle district court for incitement, slander and insult.
In November 2024, Sven Liebich had his gender entry changed from male to female and his first name changed to “Marla Svenja”. This was made possible by the new regulations of the Self-Determination Act introduced by the traffic light government in Berlin. After this, people who cannot identify with the gender determined at birth can more easily change their gender entry and first name.
Gender entry changed: Instead of Sven “Marla Svenja”
Since the change, Liebich has appeared publicly as a woman – a distinctive women’s hat, painted lips, painted fingernails, top often in a leopard look – in appearance. From an unknown location, Liebich continues to speak out on social media and fools the German security authorities.

Meanwhile tried the responsible district of Saalekreis to reverse the gender entry requested by Liebich and later approved by the authorities. The woman should get her original male gender entry back and will soon be called Sven Liebich again. A spokeswoman confirmed to FOCUS online that appropriate legal steps had been taken.
Authority for FOCUS online: Application submitted to court
“In close coordination and cooperation with the State Administration Office of Saxony-Anhalt, the application to initiate the procedure to correct the existing entry in accordance with Section 48 of the Personal Status Act was submitted to the responsible district court in Halle (Saale) in December 2025,” said the spokeswoman. She did not want to provide any further information because “it is a non-public procedure.”
The MDR recently reported that the Liebich district was accusing “abuse of the Self-Determination Act” and was therefore taking the matter to court. The Saalekreis assumes that Liebich wants to “delegitimize the self-determination law, parade the state and defame trans people.” The political leaders therefore doubt that Liebich no longer identifies himself as male. Rather, it is possible that Liebich may be abusing the provisions of the law.
Liebich on the choice of name: “I thought nothing of it”
According to MDR, this is also supported by the latest developments in the case, keywords “diverse” and “Anne Frank”. The portal “dubisthalle.de” reported on the new name request at the end of January 2026 under the heading “Provocation with calculation”. Accordingly, Liebich submitted a new application under the Self-Determination Act to the responsible registry office in Merseburg on August 5, 2025.
Marla-Svenja Liebich told “dubisthalle.de” that she “didn’t think anything of it.” Anne and Frank are “normal first names”. According to the report, Liebich also contacted the Anne Frank House memorial in Amsterdam. In his email, she emphasized that the choice of name had “no connection whatsoever with Anne Frank as a historical person, her life or her fate.” The match is coincidental.
Reports from the underground – Liebich in Russia?
In order to be able to process Liebich’s matter, the Merseburg registry office requires a personal appointment. However, Liebich refuses to do so, saying that there is an arrest warrant against her. An appearance would immediately lead to her arrest.
While the police are intensively searching for Liebich, the right-wing extremist regularly speaks out on social media and gossips about the German state. On her profile on the “X” platform, Liebich claimed that she was in Russia. Whether this is actually the case cannot currently be verified.
