According to “The Sun”, this is not an isolated case at Lanzarote Airport: last year, the simultaneous arrival of 17 non-EU flights led to chaotic conditions as all travelers’ passports had to be stamped.

And things could get even more chaotic: local business representatives fear that the new European Entry and Exit Register (EES), due to be fully implemented from April 10, could lead to “serious collapses” at the borders.

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is an automated EU IT system for registering travelers from non-EU countries, which will be introduced gradually from October 12, 2025 (until April 10, 2026). It replaces manual passport stamping with the digital capture of biometric data (facial image, fingerprints) when entering and leaving the Schengen area.
