Prince Andrew of Mountbatten-Windsor learns to be an investment banker Jeffrey Epstein know. This is introduced to him by a mutual friend: Ghislaine Maxwellthe daughter of the late media mogul Robert Maxwell. A photo that comes to light during Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial in 2021 shows her and Epstein at the Queen’s Balmoral residence.

March 2001

According to Virginia Giuffre, Andrew sexually abused her at Maxwell’s home in London. He is said to have done this two more times in Epstein’s New York home and once at an orgy on his private island in the Caribbean. Andrew completely denies these allegations.

December 2010

Andrew visits Epstein in New York after he is released from prison. Epstein was there 13 months after being accused of sexual violence against minors. Pictures show Andrew and Epstein meeting in New York’s Central Park.

July 2011

Andrew is stepping down as trade representative after his visit to Epstein in New York caused a stir. His then-wife Sarah Ferguson admits accepting money from Epstein to pay off debts.

April 2015

Allegations related to Epstein appear in court documents in Florida then 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre was forced to have sex with Andrew. In Florida, the age of sexual consent is 18. Buckingham Palace rejects the allegations.

November 2019

Two months after Epstein suicide Andrew is withdrawing from public life “for the foreseeable future.” He had previously claimed in a BBC interview that he could not have had sex with Giuffe because he was at home after visiting Pizza Express in Woking. In the interview he also said, among other things, that he had “no memory of ever meeting this lady.”

January 12, 2022

A judge in New York rejects Andrew’s attempt to dismiss a civil sexual abuse lawsuit filed by Giuffre.

January 13, 2022

Queen Elizabeth II strips her son Andrew of a number of military positions and royal patronages. The monarch is responding to an angry letter from a total of 150 veterans to the crown.

Giuffre’s lawyer makes it clear that his client would not accept a “purely financial settlement” to end the civil lawsuit. It is important to her that an agreement rehabilitates her and the other victims.

January 14, 2022

Giuffre requests the testimony of Andrew’s ex-assistant Robert Olney. She has reason to believe that he has “relevant information about Prince Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”

Andrea’s lawyers request that Giuffre’s husband and psychologist be interviewed because she may have “false memories.”

A witness comes forward. Shukri Walker agrees to testify in Giuffre’s civil trial against Andrew. She saw them both in a London nightclub 20 years ago. “She remembers that evening clearly as she has never seen a royal before or since,” her lawyer said.

January 26, 2022

Andrew files papers in New York court denying being a co-conspirator with Epstein. Andrew also claims that Epstein did not sell any girls to him and insists on a jury trial. His lawyers repeat their claim that Epstein’s 2009 settlement with Giuffre shields their client from litigation.

Andrew is scheduled to testify under oath in the civil trial in March 2022.

February 15, 2022

Andrew surprisingly reaches an agreement in principle with Giuffre. In it he agrees to make a “significant donation” to a charity and accepts that Giuffre “has suffered as an acknowledged victim of abuse”. In a document, Andrew also states that he regrets his association with Epstein.

January 22, 2023

Gishaline Maxwell, who is already in prison, questions the authenticity of the photo of Andrew and Giuffre. “I don’t believe for a second that it’s real,” she said in a video interview. Reports had previously emerged that Andrew was considering reversing his agreement with Giuffre.

January 4, 2024

A US judge unseals documents containing, among other things, further harassment allegations against Andrew and allegations that he had sex with the underage Giuffre. The approximately 1,200 pages were created for Giuffre’s defamation lawsuit against Maxwell in 2015. Scotland Yard says it will not investigate the documents because they do not contain any new information.

December 16, 2024

Andrew will not be attending the royal family’s traditional Christmas party at Sandringham due to the controversy surrounding suspected Chinese spy Yang Tengbo. He is said to have been a “close” confidante of Andrew. Andrew’s office said he had cut off all contact with the man and that “sensitive topics were never discussed.”

An email leaks. “We’re all in the same boat” – this is what Andrew wrote to Epstein after a photo of him and Giuffre became public for the first time in 2011. If the email is authentic, it contradicts Andrew’s statement that he had long since broken off contact with Epstein at this point.

Andrew loses the title of “Prince” and is now just Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. This is announced by Buckingham Palace. Andrew also receives a formal request to terminate his rental agreement for the Royal Lodge. This had given him the legal security to continue living in the 30-room villa in Windsor. Nevertheless, the palace emphasizes the “fact that it continues to deny the allegations made against it.”

December 23, 2025

In the Epstein filen, which the US authorities published, there is the correspondence of a man with the abbreviation “A”. This is apparently Andrew. He is said to speak to Maxwell about arranging meetings with “inappropriate friends”.

The files also contain email correspondence from 2001 and 2002 between Maxwell and a correspondent who also appears in the email history as “The Invisible Man” and claims to be writing from Balmoral, UK. It is unclear whether this is Andrew.

February 19, 2026

British police arrest Andrew in connection with his Epstein connection. He is accused of passing confidential documents to Epstein in his former role as a trade representative. Specifically, the accusation is abuse of office.
