The Pentagon’s AI chief, Cameron Stanley, demonstrated Palantir’s “Maven Smart System” at AIPCON.
The man from Pete Hegseth’s War Department explains using a demo that it is Palantirs “Maven Smart System” is not just “one data feed, but several.” And “instead of decision makers having to look through eight or nine systems every day to make decisions, bundle them into a single visualization tool,” says Cameron Stanley.

The system combines various reconnaissance and target acquisition tools in one interface. It combines satellite images, sensor data and AI to automatically identify possible enemy targets.

“So we’ve done everything from identifying the target to developing a course of action to executing that goal in a single system. That’s revolutionary. Previously, we had to do it in about eight or nine systems, with people literally pushing the detection results back and forth to get to the desired result – in this case, completing a kill chain,” explains the Pentagon’s chief digital and artificial intelligence officer.
Maven software automatically suggests bombers and munitions
The tool, says Stanley, automatically shows people and vehicles on the maps and suggests nominating them as targets. Other features of Maven help visualize potential targets and use them for Ground or air attacks “to suggest”. A tool called “AI Asset Tasking Recommender” can make suggestions about which bombers and munitions should be assigned to which targets, according to Stanley’s demo. That provides the US armed forces enormous advantages over their enemies. “No fair fights if I can avoid them. Let’s not have fair fights,” the Pentagon official said.
The ability to analyze large amounts of data at lightning speed allows US troops to react more quickly and reduces personnel costs: Instead of thousands of analysts, a few dozen are enough, explains Palantir developer Chad Wahlquist.
