After the defeat against Porto, the VfB stars complain about the behavior of their opponents. The Stuttgart team accuse the Portuguese of unsportsmanlike behavior.
After the annoying 1:2 in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 VfB Stuttgart is particularly frustrated with FC Porto’s performance. The Stuttgarters accuse the Portuguese of deliberate provocations and constant time-playing.
Undav totally annoyed by Portuguese
“They tried to take time off the clock with every ball,” complained striker Deniz Undav on RTL. “I think the left-back felt like he was down 37 times because of the same action.”
Undav is particularly annoyed by the referee’s hesitant line from Stuttgart’s point of view. “The fact that the referee hardly took action – or only from the 70th or 80th minute onwards – is a joke. We told him that a hundred times,” rumbled Undav, who scored VfB’s only goal.
Stiller is also angry: “I have rarely experienced something like that”
“I’ve rarely experienced something like that. I don’t know if they need it,” said midfield boss Angelo Stiller, criticizing the Portuguese’s performance.
Porto had previously taken advantage of two mistakes in Stuttgart’s defense and scored twice within six minutes. When we celebrated in front of the VfB corner, emotions ran high. After that, the guests repeatedly interrupted the flow of the game – much to the annoyance of the home team.
Despite the sharp words, the Stuttgart team also focused on their own mistakes. “We know we had two bucks in there,” Stiller said. “We can’t afford this again on Thursday.”
