With the bunker busters, Trump is making good on all his threats

The US attacks Iran’s missile facilities with bunker-busting bombs. Despite initial successes, the situation on the Strait of Hormuz remains tense.

The USA is now taking action against Iran also bunker-busting bombs. Apparently the Americans’ new targets are deeply bunkered facilities on the Strait of Hormuz, where missiles are stationed. These goals can hardly be destroyed any other way.

The US decision to bomb is consistent

Now the USA is increasingly targeting the particularly heavily secured storage and production facilities – this is a step that can be described as consistent from a military point of view.

But it is also possible that the new attacks will also target bunkers where Iran’s naval weapons are stored.

Attacks on all facilities near the coast

Overall, the USA is now trying to destroy all military installations near the coast that could be suitable for attacks against ships.

With this, Donald Trump wants to make clear the importance of opening the Strait of Hormuz. On Tuesday he even had one US threatens to withdraw from NATOhe should not receive any support.

Relaxation on the Strait of Hormuz is not easy to achieve, even with bunker busters

The USA has recently been comparatively successful in the fight against Iranian missile weapons. However, while at the beginning of the war several hundred rockets were fired every day, the number of attacks has fallen to single digits in recent days.

What the USA needs to know about all of this: The use of the new, heavy bombs is unlikely to ease the situation on the Sea Strait any time soon, as shipping traffic there continues to be threatened by a wide variety of weapon systems.

The special ammunition with high penetrating power is used primarily against heavily fortified targets or underground bunkers. According to the US military, the attack was directed against positions with cruise missiles intended for use against ships. These would therefore have posed a threat to shipping traffic in the strait.
